In the lead-up to our Open Day on Saturday 13 September 2025 (RSVP here on Eventbrite), we’re delighted to introduce you to Ilaria, Nursery Manager at our Wandsworth nursery school.
In 2017, Ilaria arrived in London from Italy, ready to begin a new chapter in her life. Back home, she had earned a QTS in Art for secondary education and worked as a teacher with older students. While teaching was already close to her heart, it wasn’t until she stepped into the world of early years education in London that she uncovered a new passion.
“I started as an assistant shortly after moving here,” Ilaria recalls. “Working with young children opened my eyes to how rewarding these early years can be. Their curiosity, joy, and endless energy made me realise that this was where I wanted to be.”
Growing with Abacus Ark: From Assistant to Nursery Manager
That realisation inspired Ilaria to pursue formal qualifications in early years education. Since then, her career has been one of continuous development, moving from assistant to manager. Along the way, she has felt fully supported by the Abacus Ark community.
“Abacus Ark has been so much more than a workplace for me,” she says. “It’s a second family. I have been able to grow alongside the company, and every day I get to bring my passion to life.”
