Abacus Ark Nursery School Recipe: Mexico

This week we will be using food to explore the country of Mexico. We have provided very simple Guacamole and Salsa recipes which will require some chopping, mashing, sprinkling and mixing. The dips will be served along with some lightly salted Tortilla chips.

Mexico

Fun facts:

  • The Mexican flag is made up of Green, White and Red vertical stripes with a Eagle atop a Cactus representing Mexico’s Aztec roots
  • Situated in the southern portion of North America
  • Not only are they a Spanish speaking country, globally, Mexico has the highest number of Spanish speakers
  • The indigenous Mexican people were called Aztecs
  • Amongst many others, native foods include, Chocolate, Avocado and tomato

Guacamole

Ingredients:

  • Mashed Ripe Avocado
  • Squeeze of Lime Juice
  • Chopped Coriander
  • Sprinkle of Sweet Chilli Flakes

Salsa

Ingredients:

  • Chopped Tomatoes
  • Finely Chopped and Soaked Red Onion
  • Squeeze of Lime Juice
  • Sprinkle of Sweet Chilli Flakes
